Section Description

The Project / Recipe File contains a list of possible recipes for use in cooking classes, or projects for manual arts or science classes. These projects / recipes can be modified or deleted and new ones can be added.

Steps

 

Points to Note:

  1. The cost of each project / recipe is calculated using the current price of the stock items in that recipe.
  2. To view a recipe/ project, double click on it.
  3. If you would like to list the recipes/ projects by description, cost or date, for example, click on the buttons at the top of the desired column and the project/recipe will be ordered accordingly.
  4. To do a quick search type in the first few characters of the field that you are searching for and hit enter, and the list will automatically scroll to the nearest matching entry. (see Searching (Lookups)).

 

To get to the Project / Recipe File
To get to the Project / Recipe File, select the Recipes menu and select Recipes / Projects or click on the Recipes button on the navigator.


 

Adding a Project / Recipe
To add a new project or recipe:
  1. Click on the New button and an Adding New Project form will appear.
  2. Select the subject for which the project / recipe is being created. Click the down arrow for the list. (The TAB key moves to the next field).
  3. Enter the description (name) of the project / recipe being entered.
  4. Enter the number of students that the project / recipe measurements will be between (i.e. if two students will be cooking it together, or three, etc.).
  5. Enter any relevant notes. For example, "See page 5 of text book".
  6. Add the required ingredients / materials (see Adding / Editing / Deleting Ingredients below).
  7. If required, click on the Method tab and enter the method or instructions for the project / recipe.
  8. Click on the Return button to close and save the project / recipe.

 

Editing Projects / Recipes
To edit a project or recipe:
  1. Locate the desire project / recipe by using the List or Search (see Searching (Lookups)).
  2. Open the required project / recipe by double clicking it.
  3. Alter any of the header fields required.
  4. Edit the ingredients as you wish (see Adding / Editing / Deleting Ingredients below).
  5. Click on the Return button to close and save the project / recipe.
  6. To just rename a recipe / project, see Section: Recipe Utilities | Rename Project.

 

Deleting a Project / Recipe
To delete a project or recipe:
  1. Locate the project / recipe to delete by using the List or Search (see Searching (Lookups)).
  2. Click on the Delete button to delete the project / recipe.
  3. Click OK when asked if you wish to delete the project.

 

Adding / Editing / Deleting Ingredients
  1. Adding. There are two different ways to add ingredients to a recipe.
  2. Editing - Through the grid
    1. To edit an ingredient that has already been added, click in the field that you want to edit. Use the button to select a new item or unit of measure, or you can type in a new quantity.

     

  3. Editing - Through the form
    1. Click on the Edit Item button on the bottom right of the form
    2. If you wish to change the ingredients, click on the down arrow to the right of the Item No. Box for a search form to appear. Use this to chose the new item you want.
    3. Type a few letters of the ingredient you are looking for in the Search box at the top of the Form. Once the ingredient you want is highlighted, click on the OK button and the item will be entered into the form.
    4. The default unit of measure and quantity will show, change these if they are incorrect.
    5. Click the close button on the bottom left of the little screen to save the ingredients to the recipe/ project.

     

  4. Deleting
    1. To delete an ingredient, select the item by clicking on it.
    2. Click on the Delete button to delete the ingredient. Click Yes to confirm.

 

 

Reports

There are 2 different ways to print out a particular project / recipe:

  1. Locate the desired project / recipe in your project / recipe list by using the quick List Search or using Search (see Searching (Lookups)). Select the project / recipe so that it is highlighted blue, then click on the Print button at the bottom of the screen.
  2. You can also print the project / recipe while you have it open. Locate the project / recipe in your list, double click on it to open it, then click on the Print button located at the right of screen.

To view the other project / recipe reports, click on the Reports tab on the Project / Recipe list screen. The Project / Recipe File provides 5 reports:

  1. Details: This report is the same as the normal project / recipe print outs mentioned above. To generate this report, select Details from the report list, select the range of projects / recipes you would like to print out and then click on Preview or Print. To select the range of projects/ recipes you'd like to print search for the recipe in the search box on the right, and then click on the Copy to Start button or the Copy to End button depending on which box you want to enter it in to. Alternatively you can double click on a recipe/ project and it will be transferred to the Start box, then next recipe/ project you double click will then be transferred to the End box.
  2. Extended Details: This report is very similar to the Details report but also includes the item number and unit cost of each item in the project / recipe. To generate this report, select Extended Details from the report list, select the range of projects / recipes you would like to print out and then click on Preview or Print.To select the range of projects/ recipes you'd like to print search for the recipe in the search box on the right, and then click on the Copy to Start button or the Copy to End button depending on which box you want to enter it in to. Alternatively you can double click on a recipe/ project and it will be transferred to the Start box, then next recipe/ project you double click will then be transferred to the End box.
  3. Listing: This is just a listing of projects / recipes without any item / ingredient details. To generate this report, select Listing from the report list, select the range of projects / recipes you would like to print out, then click on Preview or Print. To select the range of projects/ recipes you'd like to print search for the recipe in the search box on the right, and then click on the Copy to Start button or the Copy to End button depending on which box you want to enter it in to. Alternatively you can double click on a recipe/ project and it will be transferred to the Start box, then next recipe/ project you double click will then be transferred to the End box.
  4. Project by Item Listing: This report displays all projects / recipes on file that contain any selected items / ingredients. To generate this report, select Project by Item Listing from the report list and add any items to the item list box that you would like to locate by clicking on Add Item and selecting the items from the search. Click on Preview or Print. If you add more than one item to the list box, for example, eggs and flour, the report will display any projects / recipes that contain both eggs and flour. So if you would like to return all recipes that use flour, just add flour to the list box. To select the range of projects/ recipes you'd like to print search for the recipe in the search box on the right, and then click on the Copy to Start button or the Copy to End button depending on which box you want to enter it in to. Alternatively you can double click on a recipe/ project and it will be transferred to the Start box, then next recipe/ project you double click will then be transferred to the End box.
  5. Student Print Out: This is just a project / recipe print out but only displays information that students need to see on a print out. To generate this report, select Student Print Out from the report list, select the range of projects / recipes you would like to print out and then click on Preview or Print. To select the range of projects/ recipes you'd like to print search for the recipe in the search box on the right, and then click on the Copy to Start button or the Copy to End button depending on which box you want to enter it in to. Alternatively you can double click on a recipe/ project and it will be transferred to the Start box, then next recipe/ project you double click will then be transferred to the End box.
